First Aid for Parents
This engaging and interactive online course is designed specifically for Parents, Grandparents and Carers of babies and young children.
Our courses will provide you with the skills and knowledge to react calmly, confidently, and efficiently in a medical emergency. As well as giving advice on how to manage a range of childhood illnesses and conditions, such as choking and Meningitis.
Even if you are a qualified ‘First Aider at Work’, or have some previous First Aid knowledge, you will find our online courses invaluable for refreshing your knowledge and applying it to the care of your own family.
Family First Aid
This course covers all the same content as the ‘First Aid for Parents’ course, but with added information and advice on how to treat adults as well! Plus additional information such as; the importance of PPE, infection control, heart attacks, angina attacks and strokes.
During the course, you will learn about the role and responsibilities of a first-aider. How to assess an emergency or first aid situation, and how to prioritise what action to take! You will also be given information on how to put together appropriate and necessary items for your first aid box
First Aid Course Content
How to help a baby, child (or adult) who are:
- unresponsive and breathing normally
- unresponsive and not breathing normally
- having a seizure
- suffering from shock caused by severe blood loss (hypovolemic shock)
- suffering from anaphylactic shock
- suffering from poisoning
How to aid a baby, child (or adult) with or have had:
- febrile convulsions
- burns, scalds, bites or stings
- a suspected fracture
- a foreign body in eyes, ears or nose
- an allergic reaction or asthma attack
- a head injury
Accessing the Courses & Certification
Our online courses can be completed on any PC or mobile device, you can study at your own pace, and log in and out as often as you wish. These courses are suitable for all learning styles with interactive quiz, video, and audio features. There are self-checks after each section of the course and an optional end-of-course multiple-choice assessment.
